Biography

Human Factors Engineering Researcher, GE Hitachi Canada

Nazli Eser Kaya, is a strong willed design enthusiast, and genuinely enjoys listening to other people’s perspectives and tunes into their stories. She strives for continuous innovation and challenges the status quo. Nazli currently works at GE Hitachi Canada where she is dedicated to providing the most intuitive and user-friendly interfaces. She leverages various Human Factors Engineering methods and principles to design next-generation nuclear reactors such as BWRX-300. Nazli, born and raised In Istanbul/Turkey, finished her Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering in the top of the class. She came to the University of Toronto to further her academic career with her Master of Applied Science in Industrial Engineering where she conducted human factors research in transportation. Following her academic career, she started working in the nuclear industry as a Human Factors Engineer and Project Manager. She is also a Diversity & Inclusion advocate, as such, she has been on the board of the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE) Diversity & Inclusion Taskforce for more than two years. She also volunteers at the GE Canada Inclusion & Diversity Council to provide leadership on matters related to diversity, inclusion and equity. Upon joining GE Hitachi, she established the North America Young Generation in Nuclear (NAYGN) Chapter and also became the co-lead facilitating activities ranging from professional development to community outreach.
