The CIO Association of Canada was pleased to host Shifting the Balance on June 1st, 2021.
This session featured Bill Whitelaw, Managing Director, Strategy and Business Development, geoLOGIC Systems and JWN Energy, Teddy Bekele, Senior Vice President, Chief Technology Officer, Land O’Lakes, Inc., Gordon Edall, Managing Director, Globe Labs, and VP of Sophi.io, and was facilitated by Mark Schrutt, Strategic Advisor, Innovation & Public Sector Research, IDC Canada.
The panelists discussed Mark Schrutt’s new book, Shifting the Balance, on how best-in-class organizations use data to shift their field of vision so it is forward-looking instead of reactive. Best in class businesses use data to inform their decisions, disrupt industries, and get closer to their customers. Teddy Beleke talked about how Land O’ Lakes helps farmers in 200 critical decisions they need to make each season. Bill Whitelaw discussed how data and intuition innovation are driving a clean-tech evolution in the Canadian energy sector. The fourth member of the roundtable Gordon Edall, talked about how the Globe and Mail is creating a more relevant and engaging newspaper for the 21st century.
