Andrew McCormack is the Chief Information Officer at Payments Canada. He is responsible for Canada’s core payment systems as well as Payments Canada’s technology strategy and emergent technology agenda.
Andrew brings more than ten years business experience with a focus on enterprise software design and development. With a comprehensive perspective of the evolving payments ecosystem, Andrew leads the technology delivery for payments modernization in Canada. As part of these responsibilities, Andrew has led blockchain research (Project Jasper), alongside the Bank of Canada and industry partners, since early 2016. Andrew has an MBA from the Ivey Business School and Bachelor of Computer Science from Carleton University. He lives in Ottawa, Ontario, with his wife and three children.

Payments Canada is leading a multi-year industry program to modernize Canada’s payments system that will benefit all Canadians and open a gateway for future innovations. At this keynote, Andrew McCormack, CIO at Payments Canada will share an understanding about how the implementation of a new Real-time Rail, enhancements to retail batch payments, and deployment of a new new high-value payments system, Lynx will support faster and more efficient payment interactions. This will include an understanding about how access to richer data through the adoption of ISO 20022 will help streamline business processes and strengthen Canada’s competitive position as a global leader in financial services.
