Celebrating our 20th anniversary with a message from CIOCAN National President, Philippe Johnston
Dear Esteemed Members, Partners, and Friends,
From the era of iPods, Flip Phones, the initial Laptops, Nintendo DS, Bluetooth, and the inaugural Megapixel Camera Phone to the current age of AI, Cloud, Citizen Development, and Blockchain, the significance of the CIO has progressively heightened, playing a crucial role in the operations of both businesses and government entities. This year marks a significant milestone for our Association, it is with great joy and pride that we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the CIO Association of Canada. Over the past two decades, this esteemed organization has been at the forefront of shaping the future of technology leadership, fostering collaboration, and driving innovation across industries. It is important that we take the time to reflect on a remarkable journey that has brought together visionary leaders, industry pioneers, and trailblazing professionals.
Founded as a National organization in 2004, the initial start-up of our great Association began in Vancouver in 1998. The CIO Association of Canada was born out of a shared vision to create a platform that would unite Chief Information Officers (CIOs) and Technology leaders, providing them with a space to exchange ideas, insights, and best practices. From its humble beginnings, the Association has evolved into a dynamic force that has played a pivotal role in steering the Canadian technology landscape.
At the heart of the CIO Association of Canada’s success lies a commitment to excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning. Through a myriad of initiatives, events, and thought leadership programs, the Association has empowered its members to navigate the ever-evolving challenges of the digital era. From the rise of cloud computing to the advent of artificial intelligence, the CIO Association of Canada has been a guiding light, helping its members not only adapt but thrive in a rapidly changing technological landscape.
One of the Association’s greatest achievements has been the creation of a vibrant and supportive community of technology leaders. The power of this network cannot be overstated. It has served as a mecca for innovation, a forum for the exchange of ideas, and a source of inspiration for CIOs facing similar challenges. The relationships forged within the CIO Association of Canada have transcended professional connections, blossoming into enduring friendships and partnerships that have left an indelible mark on the Canadian technology ecosystem.
Over the years, the Association has organized numerous conferences, workshops, and seminars, bringing together thought leaders, industry experts, and visionaries to share their insights and experiences. These events have not only fostered knowledge exchange but have also sparked collaborations that have led to groundbreaking advancements in technology adoption, organizational efficiency, and strategic planning.
As we stand on the cusp of the next technological frontier, the CIO Association of Canada remains committed to its mission of advancing technology leadership and driving innovation. The challenges and opportunities ahead are vast, but with the foundation laid over the past two decades, we are confident in our collective ability to navigate the future successfully.
To all the members, past and present, who have contributed to the success of the CIO Association of Canada, we extend our heartfelt gratitude. Your dedication, passion, and leadership have been the driving force behind this incredible journey. As we celebrate this 20-year milestone, let us renew our commitment to excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning, ensuring that the CIO Association of Canada remains a beacon of inspiration for generations to come.
